It's a long time since I hurt myself falling over... something I did a lot of during my childhood (and I had the bruises to prove it), but the other day I slipped while walking out of a shop and fell, smack bang on my bottom left cheek! Ooooh... it didn't half hurt!
It was pouring with rain at the time, so not only did I make a fool of myself and get hurt (my pride probably more than my bottom), but I also got soaked too. Luckily there was nobody else around to see, other than my husband who helped me up. He said it happened as if it was in slow motion. I'm sure it was very amusing to watch... I giggle about it now of course!
The strange thing is that I didn't appear to get any bruises. Usually I bruise so incredibly easily yet this time... nada, rien, nothing! Perhaps it's because I've got plenty of meat on my behind and it just hasn't time to show through!
I'm the family clutz! I have always been the one who falls down, drops things and damages herself here and there. But I guess is't better than some other handicaps! Lucky you for not bruising. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI used to sprain my ankles and get bloody noses all the time when I was young (not at the same time fortunately). Oh yes, and bruises galore. How nice that your husband was there to rescue you!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you bumped your bottom. I'm a new reader to your blog. Nice to meet you. I'm Ivy, or as I'm sometimes called, Whisk.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday :-)
I think when this sort of thing happens, it is your pride that gets bruised more than anything. Bet the rain made it ten times worse though.

It seems that the majority of us have been clutzes (!) at some time or other.
ReplyDeleteStill no bruise!
Thanks for your comments

I know how you feel, years ago when we lived in Holland I fell off of my bike in the rain, felt such a nit and was filthy to boot! No bruises, just a dented pride! Take care in the wet! Hugs x
ReplyDeleteHi Suzy- Just read the first few sentences of your 'about me' bit. I look forward to the day you post you've 'gotten there.' :) Happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteOuch! My MC in my WIP does something similar. I know that's fictional and all... but still. :D
