I noticed that you have a new book out soon, can you tell us a little more about Healing Summer?
It’s a spin off from my first book, Past Due…it’s the story of the bad boy of the sexy Coulter brothers and the sweet little lady who will teach him a lesson in humility…and love!
What inspired you to write your current book, Past Due?
My sister requested a story she could read on a beach trip…and it had to be set on the Outer Banks…during the time when they moved the Cape Hatteras Light House…sort of like flash fiction… only in 50,000 words or more!
Check out the trailer below...
If Past Due was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
Gwyneth Paltrow as Jenna and Hugh Jackman as Tres Coulter…and since Craig Coulter from Healing Summer is the slightly younger brother, he could be played by Gerard Butler…and I’ll gladly meet with them both, just to make sure they have the feel for the characters. Gwyneth is a pro…she’s on her own.
What made you want to become an author?
I like to write. It’s like cheap therapy. Then the talented Dixie Browning, who has hundreds of books under her belt, was nice enough to give me a quick critique and she said it shows promise…that she thought I could do it IF I worked hard…so I did.
Name one of your all-time favourite book covers?
Good question…never thought about it. I’d have to say Heidi. In my copy, Heidi in a pretty dress on a mountain. That book was one of my first loves.
Name one book that made you think 'wow'? Why did it have such an effect on you?
Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl…awesome, humbling book. It changed my life.
Who, or what, inspires you?
I pray before I write…or at least take a moment to clear the clutter from my brain.
Where is your favourite place to write?
I really don’t care…craziest place so far? In a roller coaster line…it was a 90 minute wait and I was bored.
*But I can’t write with someone reading over my shoulder…HATE that!!!
What is your favourite movie that was based on a book?
Gone with the Wind…and of course…the book was better.
Who is your favourite author (s) and why?
John Steinbeck. He never wastes a word, even his descriptions are part of the plot.
If you could have a dinner party with any authors from any time in history, who would you choose and why?
I’d have to go with the writers of the New Testament…imagine the tales they didn’t write down…I want to know about them.
Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I hate to waste time. It annoys me.
Tell us something interesting about the area where you live.
West Virginia is the birth place of the pepperoni roll…and jokes about marrying your cousin.

Great interview Elizabeth! Thanks for stopping by (and for letting me swoon over Gerard Butler and Hugh Jackman!)
Thanks for letting me stop by Suzy!
ReplyDeleteA very good interview. Wow meeting the writers of the new testament? Excellent choice. I love Gwyneth Pathrow! She's a great choice. Thanks for interviewing Lizzie, Suzy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming over Sheena-kay! Wouldn't that be cool to talk to them? I mean we all have stories to tell, but their's? Wow.
DeleteGreat interview, Elizabeth! You saw my blog, so you know how I feel about Gone with the Wind. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower, Suzy!
I knew there was a reason I felt such a connection to you Emily!
DeleteElizabeth! I learned so much about you and I already knew tons :) I pray before I write too. I absolutely cannot do it with out help!
ReplyDeleteSuzy--Awesome questions!
Angie! Maybe we were twins separated at birth and by several years (with you being the younger twin)!
DeleteElizabeth... it was such a pleasure to have you on my blog. I LOVED your answers and I don't think anybody has ever given such a heartfelt answer to the author dinner party question!! I hope to have you back again another for more Q&As! xx
ReplyDeleteAngela, Emily and Sheena-Kay thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. I do love it when people take the time to read my interviews, and this one with Elizabeth was such fun! xox
Thanks to you Suzy! Thanks for having me, best of luck on all your books, and I'd be more than happy to come back. :)
DeleteGreat interview! I love your pick for favorite cover. :) But I must admit, I kind of like wasting time. ;)
ReplyDeleteI still have the book Rachel...or rather my mom does. And I can waste time, if I plan on it. Like I love a rainy Saturday and I'll decide...I'm going to be lazy today and not even get dressed. But on a normal day, it sort of stresses me to do nothing.
DeleteWow,
ReplyDeleteI see a serious side to Seckman :)
Very cool... but you are still a flirt for wanting to hang out with Jackman and Butler and not Ms. Paltrow...(give me a call, and I suppose, (sigh) I'll hang out with her while you're busy :)
It's good to have friends like you, Mark. I knew I could burden you with the blond chick. :)
