This week, it's all about the audio book.
As much as I'd love to have my books out there for all to hear, I just haven't got round to it yet. Not because of lack of time or anything like that, but because I don't really know where to start!
In my mind, it's expensive to get a professional recording. Isn't it?
To be completely honest, I've never even read an audio book... or should that be... listened to an audio book? I'd love to, of course, but the ones I've looked at seem quite pricey and I so love to get my head stuck in a proper book, I'd much rather opt for that instead!
If I had a long commute to work, I'd probably have a different viewpoint as I can imagine it would be lovely to listen to a book while driving. But my commute is from my bedroom to my living room! (Utter bliss, I can tell you!).
I'd love to hear your comments about your audio books, what you think about them, how to get them produced, etc.

I think when an author gets to that point, audio books make an awesome addition to their marketing arsenal. But to be honest, I don't listen to books; I read them, still stuck on paper books rather than ebooks - although I do own a Nook and Kindle filled with ebooks. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Suzy! I was so in your same boat! Then I found out about acx.com...y'all should check it out. No out of pocket at all...you can 50-50 with your voice over artist! I blog about it today :D
ReplyDeleteMy book, Unbreakable, is being produced as an audiobook right now and it was incredibly easy! If you go to ACX.com you can sign up for it and you choose from hundreds of actors to read the book and you choose whether you want to pay them up front or take part of your earnings on the sales.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE AUDIO BOOKS SUZY! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have your books on my audible.com account! I listen to books while I am at work and get a lot of books "read" this way! It is amazing! PLEASE go to audio!!!!!!
ReplyDeletelol thanks for all your comments! I'd be really excited to have my books turned into audiobooks... unfortunately I've tried acx but it seems you can only log in if you're in the States! I've just emailed them and asked what can be done about it. So keep your fingers crossed for me!! :)
