I am so excited to be posting about this awesome music project... I was initially approached and told about it on Facebook and after looking into it (and donating a few dollars), I knew I just HAD to help spread the word and help this amazing gal achieve her dream. Read on to find out more...
Ilana Harkavy (ILANA) is a Los Angeles based recording artist and songwriter from Seattle, WA who just completed her first solo project -- a 5 track Pop EP called Just, Girl. The EP is the first release from The Just, Girl. Project—a fiery musical movement that empowers girls to embrace their passions, be blatantly honest, and take ownership of their individual struggles.
With a passion for girl culture, ILANA knew she wanted to create an honest body of work expressing the struggles she has faced and continues to face in becoming a strong woman. Each song expresses her raw frustrations and the mottos she has adopted to overcome them. The issues she addresses range from body image to social acceptance. ILANA acknowledged that so many girls could relate to her journey and that she had the power to speak to them. She wanted to start a movement she believed in, a girl culture revolution—And so The Just, Girl. Project was born.
Through the power of music, The Just. Girl. Project relates to and empowers girls to be the utmost honest version of themselves, take responsibility for who they are, and go after what they are most passionate about. ILANA’s audience is girls who struggle to accept themselves. She aspires to be a voice they can relate to.
On April 6, 2015 The Just, Girl. Project launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo with the hopes to raise the funds to promote the Just Girl EP and create a global movement that will hopefully include a non-profit, a record label, and a strong female artist. They hope to get the attention of millions of girls across the world and inspire them to be vibrant, bold, and beautiful.
