Hi Heather! Can you tell us a little about your latest book? 

Sure. Imitation is #1 in the Clone Chronicles and follows Ven, a clone of a rich, privileged human named Raven. When a threat is made on Raven’s life, it’s Ven’s job (reason for existence, really) to step in and pose as Raven until the threat is neutralized. That means playing the role in EVERY way. Including sparkly dresses, political parties, and BOYS!

What inspired you to write it? 

I was wandering the library (you know us book lovers. Wandering stacks is what we do!) and found a clone section in the non-fic stacks and was like “huh, not a lot of YA stories about clones out there…” one thought led to another and BOOM. Imitation.

If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters? 

Matt Lanter as Linc. No question. Well, 1 question: can he ride a motorcycle??? (I’m totally available to offer lessons. Just saying.)
And Ven? Hmm. Taylor Momsen. Dakota Fanning? Oh, what’s that girl’s name from We’re the Millers??? I like her.

What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much? 

YA is awesome! It’s a genre all about “finding yourself” which is HUGE and meaningful and life-altering. I love all the angsty hormones too. They’re so dramatic and fun!

How do you come up with character names? 

Honestly, baby name books and websites. And a lot of staring off into space, mumbling choices to myself. It’s weird to watch.

Tell us a random fact about yourself. 

I like brownies but not cake.

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live. 

I live in 2 places at once. Guam half the time and Va half the time. Both have beaches. One of them has nicer beaches than the other.

Tell us one thing that's on your bucket list. 

Hot air balloon!!!!

Favourite myth / fairytale? 

12 Dancing Princesses.

Who did you want to be when you were a kid? 

A nomad. Seriously, like a mysterious backpacking traveler. I just knew I had to go to all the places. And I’m working on it. =)
