Six days in Washington DC

5.2.15

Hey folks! I hope you're all doing great and having a great week. I'm ok, apart from having some kind of bug that's going around. I'll be up and ok in no time though, I'm sure!
As promised, I wanted to tell you a little more about our wonderful trip to the States this December / January. We actually travelled on my birthday which was way cool because it meant I got an extra six hours to celebrate ;) LOL
Our first port of call was Washington DC where we stayed in the beautiful Renaissance Mayflower Hotel - it had the most stunning foyer and ballroom where my imagination ran wild thinking about the parties that were probably held there a few hundred years ago!
We visited most of the city's landmarks - walking for hours and hours on end. Our legs were killing us after a couple of days! It was awesome though. Have a look... recognise any of them? lol

We were there for six nights, spending New Year's Eve there too... unfortunately I was a little freaked out by a number of murders that had occurred during our time there and the police were advising people to take extra care when out at night. We therefore decided to spend our final night indoors! We had fun though and enjoyed a wonderful meal in the hotel.
After checking out the following day, we packed up and headed south towards our next port of call, Luray Caverns. Have you ever been there? If not, I must recommend them, they're totally awesome! But I'll tell you more about them next time. Bye for now folks :D

  1. What beautiful pictures! I see they put an extra fence around the White House. Last time I was there, there was only the single fence and my husband got the attention of Secret Service sticking his head through the fence to snap a bar-less picture. And sadly, DC is a high crime area. My brother lived there for years and I remember my sister in law joking about low crawling through the living room at night to make sure she was never hit by a stray drive by bullet. And my son was there for a school trip and they got caught in the middle of a gang fight in a McDonalds. Nope, I wouldn't venture out into DC after dark!

    I hope you're feeling better!
