Without my insane imagination, I wouldn't be where I am now. As a writer, an overactive imagination is everything... and I do mean overactive. I've been known to imagine old hags out of bin bags blowing in the wind, monsters from big rocks at the side of the road, ghostly creatures from the large plant that sways outside my bedroom window at night, not to mention the alien-like lights shooting from my husband's mobile phone in the middle of the night!

However, without it I wouldn't have written the nine novels that are currently available to buy from online retailers. Witches, vampires, changelings, Nephilim, angels (and more!)... can all be found in my YA books whereas romance, sex, relationships and fun romps can be found in my chick lit!
So the good outweighs the bad. Who needs to swim alone anyway, right?
Tell me about your crazy imagination... what kinds of things do you imagine that aren't really there?
That is hilarious that you picture sharks. My sister is like that, and she knows it's totally irrational. Like, she imagines sharks in the deep end of the swimming pool and lakes and stuff! I'd have to say I imagine weird stuff at night, like "what if someone jumps in through the window to rob us and I have to fend someone off with my bare hands?" "what if an earthquake happens and the furniture falls on our heads and we get injured but can't get help because we're trapped under furniture?" These things are unbelievably unlikely, but at night they *seem* like they could really happen!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I'm not alone in my craziness, Heather! I feel for your sister, I really do lol!
DeleteI am also very much like you in that I imagine similar circumstances at night.... it would be nice to be able to completely shut off my imagination, at least while I'm trying to sleep ;)
It looks like you and me might be alike when it comes to imagination! I also have a horrid case of what if - but what if there really is a shark there, or what if because I didn't do this this way, this will happen? It makes some things harder. But then again, I do love my creativity because I like to write, and read, and those things are all the more fun with the more vivid of an imagination.
ReplyDeleteOlivia, I'm so glad I'm not alone in my crazy imagination! But you're right, it does stand us in good stead when it comes to writing creatively! Thanks for stopping by :D x
